SARAO - Square Kilometer Array (SKA), Carnarvon, Northern Cape

During 2016 to 2017, GCS carried out a geotechnical investigation for the proposed satellite antennae to be constructed as part of the SKA Project near Carnarvon in the Northern Cape.

To assess the subsoil and founding conditions, a site investigation was carried out comprising the excavation of test pits, rotary-cored and percussion borehole drilling and in-situ testing. Recommendations were provided for the antenna foundations and use of materials for the construction of service roads and platforms.
