Andrew Johnstone

Managing Director of GCS Geotechnical (Pty) Ltd.

Pr Sci Nat, BSc(Hons) MSc(Hydrogeology), IMWA, GSSA, IWMSA, GWD, IAH, BWA.

Andrew is the founder and CEO of GCS (Pty) Ltd. and MD of GCS Geotechnical (Pty) Ltd. He has over 40 years’ experience in water and environmental consulting for the mining, industrial, waste, oil, and agricultural sectors throughout Africa. Andrew has undertaken and managed water and environmental investigations in over 15 countries in Africa and internationally.

Nino Welland

Technical Director of GCS Geotechnical (Pty) Ltd.

Pr Eng / Pr Sci Nat, BEng (Hons), GDE, MSAIEG.

Nino is the Technical Director of GCS Geotechnical (Pty) Ltd. He is a registered Pr Eng and Pr Sci Nat. He has over 40 years’ experience in Engineering Geology and Geotechnical Consulting. Nino has extensive experience in site investigations, construction supervision and project management, foundation design and performance analysis, forensic and remedial studies, and dolomitic investigations. He also has experience in investigations of quarries, and borrow pits and construction material classification, dam and tunnel investigations, extensive linear investigations for roads, rail lines and power lines. Nino has experience in South and Southern Africa as well as in Canada, the UK, South America, Cuba and Saudi Arabia.

Warren Kretzinger

Associate Engineering Geologist of GCS Geotechnical (Pty) Ltd

Pr Sci Nat, BSc (Hons), MSAIEG.

Warren has experience in geotechnical site investigations for both small and large projects, as well as dolomite stability investigations, quarry and material evaluations, NHBRC, and slope stability investigations. Warren has 13 years of experience and has worked on and managed projects throughout South Africa and Southern Africa, as well as abroad.

Brett Wilson-Jones

Non-Executive Director of GCS Geotechnical (Pty) Ltd.

Pr Sci Nat, B Sc (Hons) MSc (Eng.Geol), MSAIEG.

Brett Wilson-Jones has over 50 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and the restoration of contaminated land. He obtained an MSc in Engineering Geology at the University of Leeds in 1978. Brett was the managing director of Moore Spence Jones (Pty) Ltd, prior to MSJ’s acquisition and incorporation into WorleyParsons in 2010. He has been the team leader on major geotechnical projects throughout Southern Africa and the Middle East. Brett has carried out geotechnical investigations for housing developments, industrial parks, petrochemical plants, high rise buildings, quay walls, bridges and roads, quarries and borrow areas, dams and tunnels, landfill sites, and groundwater water supply projects. Some of the major projects include the geotechnical investigations of Sasol 2 and 3, the expansion of the Ngodwana Paper Mill, the Fox Project SAPREF, the new King Abdullah Port (Saudi Arabia), the Anadarko LNG Project in Mozambique, and Durban’s International Convention Centre, Hilton Hotel and Gateway Shopping Center.
